I lost my loving grandma to Alzheimer's, so any study or research done in the aspect of memory makes me much curious and I explore it to the maximum.
Medication has had limited effect on memory but now researchers from the Mayo Clinic report that tickling the brain with low-intensity electrical stimulation in a specific area can improve verbal short-term memory.
When the area on the sides of the head by the temples and ears were tickled, researchers found that word recall was enhanced. Patients recalled more words from a previously viewed list when low-amplitude electrical stimulation was delivered to the brain’s lateral temporal cortex.
This stimulation is compared to “tickling” of the brain.
Yea, I know some people give us such awful memories that its best left forgotten but jokes apart, this is an awesome research. If it can be made available to people at affordable prices and after carefully weighing the pros and cons, I am sure it will be a boon for many patients.
